Finding your shapewear size: our step-by-step guide

Shapewear only works if it fits properly. Too small and it's torture. Too big and it doesn't sculpt anything. Here's our method to find your size without getting it wrong.

Step 1: Take your measurements

You'll need a soft tape measure (the dressmaker's kind) to measure three areas:

  • Bust: at the fullest point, keeping the tape level.
  • Waist: at the narrowest point of your torso, usually above the belly button.
  • Hips: at the widest point of your hips, keeping the tape level.

Tip: measure yourself in the morning, standing up, without pulling the tape tight. Measurements can vary by 1–2 cm by the end of the day.

Step 2: Compare with our guide

Check our size guide and find the row that matches your three measurements.

Step 3: If your measurements don't match one size

If your measurements fall into different sizes (e.g. S at the bust, M at the hips), here's the rule:

  • For a bodysuit: go by your waist or hip measurement (whichever is larger).
  • For a swimsuit: go by your bust measurement if you have a fuller bust, otherwise your hips.

Step 4: If in doubt, size up

Well-fitting shapewear is just tight enough to sculpt, without cutting off circulation or making it hard to breathe. If you're right between two sizes, choose the larger one. The sculpting effect stays excellent, and it's far more comfortable to wear for long periods.

Step 5: Do the mirror test

Once your bodysuit or swimsuit arrives, put it on and check:

  • The seams stay in place (no rolling at the waist).
  • The neckline doesn't gape or spill over.
  • You can breathe normally and sit down comfortably.
